Our very own Unyoked parents have put together this list of questions you didn't even know you had to help you feel more at ease with taking your kiddo off-grid.
What about dirty nappies?
Just bring a large garbage bag with you, tuck it under the sink in the cupboard, open it with each disposal and tie shut after. This way you've got an airtight, smell-tight, area to keep the nappies and then bring home with you to throw out easily after your trip.
Where will they sleep?
For babies, a portacot will fit inside the cabin on the kitchen floor without impeding access to the bathroom, and most prams' bassinets will usually fit on the bench beside the bed.
How will I keep them occupied?
Pack their favourite toys, books and colouring pens and sit out on the deck or grass with them and watch them draw what they see. Tell them about the trees and the birds they see, go stick hunting together, collect leaves for the fire pit and star are the stars at night.
What about all the stuff I have to bring?
Make sure you play a game of "do we really need this?" when packing for your trip. Put it all into backpacks and then you've got more hands free to help point cool things out along the walk... oh, and for all the special sticks you'll be helping to carry home. Have a read of our packing list for some extra tips.
What if the weather is bad?
Always pack for all seasons, so waterproof clothes and shoes and always a backup set of comfies for the kids, just in case. Plus, kids love stomping in puddles and mud - so the better prepared you are for that, the more fun there is to bed had. If you've got a beach umbrella or shelter, pack it along too for extra protection from the weather when outside.
