When headed off-grid it's best to be prepared for all seasons in one. We know the weather man likes to predict sunshine and rainbows most of the year, but reality is, nature has it's own plan and we're just along for the ride.
What to Pack:
-
Warm clothes, no matter what time of year it is.
-
A backup pair of clothes and socks, in case you get caught in the rain.
-
Footwear appropriate for the wilderness - leave those white sneakers at home. Think Blundstones or gumboots, so you can tackle those more muddy tracks.
-
Raincoat, hat & sunscreen.
-
For the cooler months pack along thick socks and a beanie.
-
For the warmer months pack along your swimmers, in case your cabin has a spot to paddle.
-
Enough food for your stay (but can fit into the small bar fridge). BYO esky if need be.
-
BYO milk for your tea and coffee. We don't include this in our cabins.
-
We drink wine out of enamel cups around here...but, if you're not a fan - byo wine vessels.
-
Anything you can't live without (like medications)
What not to pack:
-
Appliances; heaters, hairdryers, toasters, microwaves etc. These will drain the solar power and turn all cabin electrics off, the power won't return until the sun shines again.
